Image
India's wealthiest man Mukesh Ambani announced the launch of Jio "intelligent" phone, offering life-long free voice calls bundled with 4G data streaming at an "effective price of zero". Ambani, who had taken the telecom sector by surprise with free voice calls and data last year, announced the next leap at the company's 40th shareholder meeting. The phone, targeted at 50 crore feature phone users in the country, will be available for pre-booking from 24 August on payment of a refundable security deposit of Rs 1,500. This deposit will be refunded after 36 months on return of the phone, he said, adding that the price of the phone will be "effective zero". He used the occasion to introduce his twin children, Akash and Isha, who presented the phone features that include calls and text messaging on voice command, Internet surfing and cable to connect the device to TV to view content, including videos. The tenacity you will have to find on your own but I can help you with the tools. This is by no means a complete list of internet archives, but the following roundup of research resources will have you well on your way to finding that gem of information you’re looking for. Nokia 105 and Nokia 130 feature phones launched in India, price starts at Rs 999

Image
HMD Global, the Finnish startup which owns the rights to use the  Nokia  brand on mobile phones, has launched two entry-level features phones – the Nokia 105 and Nokia 130. Both features phones have upgraded designs, and run on Nokia S30+ platform. The new Nokia 105’s single-SIM variant is priced at Rs 999, while its dual-SIM variant will cost Rs 1149. It will start selling in the country, starting July 19.  The new Nokia 130 will be launched soon in India, though the company isn’t telling its exact price. The all-new Nokia 105 is a fresh take on the four-year old feature phone. Its design has been completely changed, and now appears to look like the Nokia 3310. However, barring the altered look, the phone doesn’t offer anything new to its potential users. It features a 1.8-inch colour display, 4MB RAM, 4MB ROM, as well as 800mAh battery, which promises to deliver 15 hours of talk time.  An FM Radio is also included, alongside a headphone jack and microUSB 2....

#2 Future Gadget - LG Display Flexible OLED

Image
Long have we lived with the promise of truly flexible displays, and long have the nuances of material design kept it from becoming reality. Earlier this year, LG introduced the first large-size mass-producible flexible OLED display. Thanks in part to a bendable polyimide film (instead of hard plastic) on the back-plane panel, the 18-inch high-resolution screen can roll into a one-inch-wide tube. The company expects to develop an ultra-HD flexible monitor that’s greater than 60 inches by 2017.

#1 Future Gadget - Apple iBeacon

Image
iBeacon, Apple’s new communication tool, brings locational awareness indoors. Unlike GPS, which typically requires an unobstructed path between the device and satellite, the platform relies on small Bluetooth modules that identify people’s proximity in a given location inside or out. The beacons can then push tailored content (such as exhibit notes in museums or coupons in a store) directly to smartphones. Developers have already built hundreds of applications, including one that lets fans order concessions in baseball stadiums and another that guides blind passengers through the San Francisco airport.

Finally the iPhone 7 has been Jailbroken by an Italian Developer

Image
Once a new iPhone is launched in the market every year, the first thing that many users actually look out for is whether a jailbreak is out or not. And same was the case with the  iPhone 7  as well. But it looks like the wait is over. Yes, the iPhone 7 jailbreak has been successfully achieved by Italian developer, hacker and security researcher. Luca is already known for showing off private jailbreaks and now has once again decided to show off his skills. He posted a photo of an iPhone 7 with iOS installed and running Cydia. This makes him the first person to showcase a functioning jailbreak on  Apple ‘s new iPhone 7 devices. He also happened to be the one who showed off his a jailbroken iPad running iOS 10. Yet again, he decided to tweet a screenshot with the tagline ‘obligatory Cydia screenshot’. The screenshot shows as ‘Cydia 1.1.26 (en-us).’ And the device displayed is a matte black iPhone 7, in case you are wondering. However, many people are suggesting that...

How to enable Google Assistant on any Android Smartphone running Android 7.0

Image
Probably the best feature showcased by Google on the  October 4th  event was the Google Assistant integration within the OS on the Pixel Smartphones. This feature shows how far Google has come with their AI advancement. But the sad news for other Android users is that the Google Assistant integration within the OS will not make it’s way to the other devices. Yes, it is exclusive to the Pixel smartphones only. So if you are using any other Android smartphone including the  Nexus 6P , you will not get the goodness of the Assistant. But hey, the best thing about Android OS is that it’s flexible. If you can’t get something from the manufacturers, you can get eventually by some or the other means. And thanks to developers, it is now possible to get the Google Assistant on any Android smartphone. Yes, the process might not be as easy as you would imagine but it is at least possible. So if you want to get the Google Assistant on your Android smartphone, then all you have to...

What is denial of service Attack?

Image
A denial-of-service (DoS) attack involves an attempt to disrupt the normal functioning of a website or web service. In a typical DoS attack, the attacker will overload a site’s server with requests for access far above the capacity of the site, meaning that legitimate requests cannot be processed. Other examples include: disrupting service to a specific person or system, flooding a network with traffic to prevent legitimate traffic from flowing, preventing a person from accessing a particular service and disrupting the connection between two specific machines, thereby interrupting a service. An e-mail bomb is another type of DoS attack wherein a large number of  spam  emails are sent in order to disable a mail server. In a distributed denial of service attack, the attacker uses several host computers to attack another computer or network. Preventative measures against denial of service attacks include: maintaining a firewall, utilizing router filters, disabling...

Researchers 3D print a soft artificial heart that works a lot like a real one

Image
The science of prosthetics has been advancing by leaps and bounds over the last few years, and research into soft robotics has been especially complementary. The same techniques that go into making a robot arm that flexes and turns like a real one can go into making more complex, subtle organs — like the heart,  as Swiss researchers have demonstrated . One problem with artificial hearts is that metal and plastic mechanisms can be difficult to integrate with tissue, or damage the blood because of their unnatural movement style. A small team at ETH, led by doctoral student Nicholas Cohrs, has created what they say is the first artificial heart that’s entirely soft, with its pumping mechanism achieved by causing the silicone ventricles to pump just like a real heart. Well, not exactly like a real heart — in-between the ventricles isn’t just a wall but a chamber that fills and deflates to create the pumping action. But it’s close. The heart was created using a 3D-printed ...

What is Phishing? How to prevent from it ?

Image
What is Phishing? Phishing is a type of online scam where criminals send an email that appears to be from a legitimate company asking you to provide sensitive information. This is usually done by including a link that supposedly takes you to the company’s website where you are asked to fill in your information – but the website is a clever fake and the information you provide goes straight to the crooks behind the scam. The term ’phishing’ is a pun on the word fishing because criminals are dangling a fake ’lure’ (the email that looks legitimate, as well as the website that looks legitimate) hoping users will ’bite’ by providing the information the criminals have requested – such as credit card numbers, account numbers, passwords, user names, and more. See just how clever these phishing scams can be in this example of a fake Charles Schwab notice. The first picture shows the scam as it appeared in email, the second picture shows where the clues are tipping you off that this ...

What is Session Hijacking and how to prevent it?

Image
What is Session Hijacking? The session hijacking is a type of web attack. It works based on the principle of computer sessions. The attack takes advantage of the active sessions. To know this in detail, we need to know what is a session. Let’s see what is a session and how the session works first. What is a session? The session refers to certain time period that communication of two computer systems or two parts of a single system takes place. When one logins to a password protected system, the session is used. The session will be valid up to the end of the communication. In some cases, such as in the above described case, the session is user-initiated. There is technology initiated sessions also. Various email clients use the sessions and these are examples for the sessions initiated by the technology. However, many of the active sessions will be hidden from the users. They will not know when a session starts and ends. The session is an important factor in the Internet c...

Samsung Galaxy Note FE iFixit Teardown Confirms The Smaller Battery

Image
S amsung  just recently launched the new Galaxy Note FE smartphone. If in case, you have been living under a rock and you have no idea what this is, it is the refurbished  Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. The company has launched this smartphone in South Korea recently and it is expected that it will be launched in a couple of other international markets as well. Talking about the differences between this refurbished one and the regular unit, the battery on the new FE variant is smaller. The company obviously had to do it, since the last Note phablet had terrible battery issues. Apparently, the battery on the Galaxy Note 7 was too big to be accommodated in the body of the phone and it was exploding out in the wild. However, in order to overcome this issue, the company has fitted the refurbished units with comparatively smaller batteries. And in order to find out what else has changed internally, the good folks at iFixit got their hands on a Note 7 FE unit and tore it apart to se...
